There is a gap between hospital and home.
For young adults living with serious mental illness, the path after a hospital stay too often leads back to one. They are stabilized and sent home, but the structured, long-term support that recovery actually requires does not exist between the hospital and independent life.
Eli's Place is being built to address that gap.
Bringing together integrated clinical care, meaningful daily work and community living within a residential therapeutic community designed not simply to manage illness but to build the conditions for a functioning, independent life. Set on a working farm and conservation property just north of Guelph.
Eli's Place will be the first long-term program of its kind in Canada.
Eli’s Place is not an experiment
A Proven Foundation
Before committing to a model, the organization reviewed 33 therapeutic community programs around the world and selected one with an outcomes record that is difficult to deny: Gould Farm.
Gould Farm is a 113-year-old residential therapeutic community on a working farm in Massachusetts and the most established program of its kind in North America.
Eli’s Place is adapting the model for Canada.
The land is not a backdrop to the program.
It is the program.

of continuous agricultural operation
Eli’s Place will make its home just north of Guelph at Loyola House, a residence set on a working farm and conservation property that has been in continuous operation for over a century.
Eli's Place is staffed by experienced clinical and care professionals who work as members of the community rather than visitors to it. The model depends on genuine relationships between Guests and staff, built across a shared daily rhythm of work, meals and community life.

Eli’s Place is an independent organization, open to all. It operates within a spiritual, though explicitly non-religious, framework. The quiet of the land and the rhythms of daily life on it are part of the therapeutic environment, but the program has no religious affiliation, content or requirement.
